A 91-year-old woman, with the help of the police, set a trap for telephone scammers. A supposed prosecutor deceived the elderly woman into believing her daughter had caused a traffic accident and she should therefore hand over a cash bail. Upon delivery, the officers then arrested the supposed collector, a 13-year-old girl, the police reported. This is "very unusual," as children are not typically used to collect the loot for telephone scams, a police spokesperson said.

When the scammer called, the elderly woman informed her husband, who then called the police from the next room. The 91-year-old played along with the scam and offered a five-figure amount and gold. At the afternoon handover, the police arrested the 13-year-old. The girl was taken to a youth facility, it was reported. Due to her age, the child is not criminally responsible.

The husband immediately contacted the police after hearing about the scam, seeking their assistance. After the shelled-out five-figure amount and gold were handed over, the police apprehended the 13-year-old girl.
