An 85-year-old wrong-way driver has died in an accident on the Autobahn 6 near Wernberg-Köblitz(Schwandorf district). The driver was traveling in the wrong direction between Leuchtenberg and Wernberg-Ost on Monday evening and collided with two cars traveling correctly, police said on Tuesday night. Both drivers were injured and taken to nearby hospitals. The driver who caused the accident was so seriously injured that he died on the scene despite the rescue helicopter and resuscitation measures. The highway had to be closed in both directions after the accident.
