85-year-old cyclist dies after collision with car
A cyclist has died in the Allgäu region after a collision with a car. As the police announced on Tuesday, the 85-year-old died of her serious injuries in hospital on Sunday - four days after the accident.
According to initial investigations, the woman had overlooked a car on November 1 near Burgberg (Oberallgäu district) when she wanted to cross a road. She collided with the car of a 31-year-old man. The senior citizen was airlifted to hospital.
The driver was charged with endangering road traffic as he was measured to have an alcohol level of more than 0.3 per mille.
In the same Swabian region where this unfortunate incident occurred, authorities are urging drivers to be more cautious due to the high frequency of traffic accidents. Despite the tragic death of the 85-year-old cyclist in Allgäu, there's been another collision involving a car in Swabia, raising concerns about road safety.
