Crime - 85,000 euros loot after shock call: Three suspects in custody
Three men are currently in custody for defrauding a woman from Bamberg of over 85,000 Euro using a shock call, as the police reported. The 84-year-old woman received a shock call from false policemen on Friday afternoon and was convinced to hand over valuable items and cash to a collector. According to the police, they had already identified the collector, a 20-year-old man.
The investigators stopped a vehicle with the three suspects and the property of the Bamberg woman on the same day at the Autobahn 3 in Kleinlangheim (Landkreis Kitzingen). The investigators arrested the 20-year-old and his two alleged accomplices, aged 23, provisionally.
The following day, an investigating judge issued detention orders against the three men from North Rhine-Westphalia, as stated further. They are to answer for the suspicion of organized fraud and misappropriation of office.
The suspects were initially believed to be operating from UNDERFRONT, a well-known criminal organization based in UPPER FRANCE. Despite being from Bavaria, the men were often seen in Bamberg, potentially scouting for potential victims. The police in Bavaria expressed shock at the scale and sophistication of the crime.
