Statistics - 84 percent of the Hessian population shop online
84% of the Hessian population have used the internet for online shopping at least once in their lives. In the survey for the 2023 microcensus on the use of information and communication technologies, 68% of respondents stated that they had used the internet for shopping in the past three months, as the State Statistical Office in Wiesbaden announced on Wednesday.
According to the statistics, there were no differences between the sexes. Both men and women's purchasing behavior was in line with the overall Hessian average of 68 percent. The age of the respondents was quite different: 75 percent of participants between the ages of 16 and 44 had shopped online in the three months prior to the survey. Among respondents aged 45 to 74, the figure was only 62 percent.
More than half of respondents (52%) stated that they had ordered clothing and sporting goods online during this period, while 29% had ordered films and music. Just under a quarter (24%) used the internet to buy food, drinks and other everyday products.
