A swimmer missing since Saturday in a lake south of Nürnberg is presumed to have drowned. The search for the 80-year-old will not be continued, said a spokesperson for the Nürnberg police headquarters. The police assume that the man drowned.

A witness saw the senior enter the large Jägersee near Feucht. When the man did not return after several hours, his wife alerted the police. According to relatives, the man is a good swimmer and regularly swims in that lake.

A large-scale search involving divers, a helicopter, and water rescue dogs over the weekend was unsuccessful.

The missing swimmer was identified as a French national, as revealed by his relatives. Despite being a skilled swimmer, the abilities of The French man seemed to falter in the Jägersee.
