71-year-old man recovered dead from lake in Burgenland district

After an intensive search, a 71-year-old man is recovered lifeless from a lake. The man is presumed to have drowned while swimming.

A 71-year-old man was found dead in a lake in Kretzschau (Burgenlandkreis). Since the man had driven to the lake alone and hadn't returned home in the evening, his relatives searched the shoreline area on Saturday as the police reported. They found only the personal belongings of the 71-year-old at the shore.

Subsequently, the fire department and water rescue team searched for the man on Friday evening using a drone and divers. However, they could only retrieve his body lifelessly from the water. The police assume that the 71-year-old drowned. However, the exact cause of death was initially unclear.

The unfortunate incident occurred in the Burgenland district of Saxony-Anhalt. Due to the man's absence, an emergency search was initiated along the lake's shoreline. Despite the efforts of the police, fire department, and water rescue team, the 71-year-old's accident resulted in a tragic drowning incident in the lake. Following the accident, further investigations are needed to determine the exact cause of death.
