65th Nordic Film Days: Organizers draw a positive balance
Almost two weeks after its conclusion, the Nordic Film Days have drawn a positive balance of their 65th edition. A total of more than 30,000 visitors were counted, including almost 25,000 in the venues and a good 6,500 visits to the digital video platform, the organizers announced on Monday. That was almost as many as in 2019, when almost 30,000 spectators were also counted over six festival days, a spokeswoman said. This year, the Nordic Film Days lasted five days.
The Nordic Film Days Lübeck are considered the largest showcase for films from Scandinavia and the Baltic States in Europe. The 66th edition will take place from November 6 to 10, 2024.
According to the information provided, the expansion of barrier-free offerings was new this year. Numerous films were shown with audio descriptions for blind and visually impaired people. For the deaf or hearing-impaired, there were versions in which not only the dialog but also atmospheric sounds were described. Individual film discussions were also accompanied by sign language interpreters and in the "Young Audience" section, the feature film "Dancing Queen" was completely signed.
The 65th Nordic Film Days featured a variety of movies, making it a significant festival for Scandinavian and Baltic State cinematography. Next year, movie enthusiasts can look forward to the 66th edition from November 6 to 10, 2024.
