Crime - 63-year-old man robbed while sleeping in Rostock

A 63-year-old had a smartphone, a tablet, and around 1,000 Euros in cash stolen in Rostock. The man had fallen asleep in his chair on a parking lot next to his motorhome on a Saturday evening, according to the police. The thief took advantage of this moment to steal the devices and cash. Later, the man's son reported the theft to the police telephonically. He could locate the devices and also play a signal tone on the stolen devices.

The GPS location of the devices had remained stationary at a house in Neustrelitz after approximately two and a half hours. The police officers went to the address and kept in touch with the man's son via phone. When he played the signal tone, the officers were able to locate the devices. According to the police, a 26-year-old suspect was arrested.

The theft occurred in the city of Rostock, which is located in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The man's stolen cell phone emitted a signal tone, leading the police to suspect it was being used in Neustrelitz. The suspect was reportedly using a senior-friendly tablet to communicate during the investigation.
