Accident on the Baltic Sea - 56-year-old dies while kitesurfing off Zingst
A tourist from Brandenburg died while kitesurfing at the Baltic Sea near the Zingst peninsula. The cause of death is still unclear, the police reported. The 56-year-old man reportedly wanted to start kitesurfing with his 29-year-old daughter from the beach in Nisdorf, in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, in the afternoon. It appears that there was a failed launch, during which the kiter was driven further and further onto the Darßer Bodden Reef, as stated.
The daughter, who remained on the beach, contacted the rescue coordination center immediately. The rescue coordination center informed the Stralsund Coast Guard Inspection, the Water Police Inspection Stralsund, and the Stralsund Fire Department.
