In the murder trial of a 50-year-old, the defendant has confessed to the killing of his 41-year-old wife. In a statement read out by his lawyer at the start of the trial at the Regional Court in Oldenburg, he admitted to stabbing her in a "tragic moment of impulse". "He was in a state of frenzy and not in his right mind," said the lawyer. Her client regretted the act.

The Polish man from the district of Cloppenburg is accused of having fatally stabbed his estranged wife and mother of their two daughters in the early morning hours of February, driven by jealousy and malicious intent. According to the prosecution, the man wanted to punish her for leaving him. "Because he couldn't have her anymore, no one else should have her," said the prosecutor.

Defendant severely injured in car accident

The man is alleged to have ambushed the woman at her new address and stabbed her multiple times with a knife. The victim was found on the street with severe injuries and later died despite resuscitation efforts. After the crime, the defendant is said to have fled in his car. He had an accident on the A1 north of Wildeshausen and suffered severe injuries.
