A 50-year-old man was overpowered and arrested in Neuss near Düsseldorf following an attempted bank robbery. No one was injured during the incident, police reported. The man entered the bank branch in the district of Grimlinghausen in the afternoon, brandishing a knife and demanding cash immediately. Some employees managed to escape from the credit institution, while others barricaded themselves in separate rooms within the branch.

After police had surrounded the bank, the man emerged from the building and was arrested without resistance. The 50-year-old has a history of appearing in police records for various offenses. A blood sample was taken from him due to suspicion of drug use.

The bank where the incident occurred was successfully secured by the police after the attempted bank robbery. Subsequent investigations revealed that this was not the first time the man had been involved in a bank robbery.
