5:0 against Topola: SC Freiburg overwinters in the European Cup
SC Freiburg won their home game against FK TSC Bačka Topola from Serbia 5:0 (1:0) in the Europa League and are safely through to the European Cup this winter. The Bundesliga club dominated the encounter on Thursday evening, scoring through Merlin Röhl (24 minutes), Maximilian Eggestein (56), Noah Weißhaupt (69), Junior Adamu (80) and Ritsu Doan (90+2).
Sport-Club are now safely third in Group A and therefore at least in the Conference League. However, with nine points after four matchdays, coach Christian Streich's team have the best chance of winning the group and qualifying directly for the last 16 of the Europa League. As runners-up, Freiburg would have to progress to the intermediate round.
