Care - 482 volunteers approved for neighborhood assistance

In Saxony-Anhalt, 482 voluntary neighborhood helpers have been approved so far. This was announced by the Ministry of Social Affairs on Tuesday. These volunteers support people in need of help and care in their neighborhood and can receive 125 euros per month in return. Among other things, the helpers must complete a training course recognized by the state. The state government created this opportunity for neighborhood assistance in the spring - with the amendment of the Care and Support Ordinance.

According to the ministry, 273 of the 482 approved helpers have acquired the relevant qualification through the training courses offered by the Society for Prevention in Old Age (PiA) since the end of September. Further training courses are planned. Participants learn more about legal issues, clinical pictures, communication with those in need and the correct behavior in an emergency. Anyone with a relevant professional qualification, for example in the care sector, does not have to complete any additional training for admission. Those in need of care can then claim the 125 euro relief contribution from their care insurance fund.
