Test match - 4:0 in Erfurt: Hertha also win second test match
Hertha BSC also won the second preparation game for the new season in the second Bundesliga with a 4:0 (3:0) victory over Rot-Weiß Erfurt. Six days after the 7:0 test match opener against FSV Bernau, the team of new coach Cristian Fiel scored three goals in the first half and one in the second half.
Captain Fabian Reese scored the first goal in the third minute after a corner from Ibrahim Maaza for the Berliners, who fielded national team returnees Haris Tabakovic and Andreas Bouchalakis from the start. Eight minutes later, Reese provided the assist for underperformer Palko Dardai. Hertha pressed for more goals but had to wait until the 37th minute for Tabakovic to score his third goal for the Berliners.
After the break, Fiel brought on a completely new team, with Diego Demme, whose signing was only announced that morning, and Kevin Sessa making their Hertha debuts. The former Heidenheimer, who turned 24 on Saturday, had missed the first test match. However, the team struggled more than the first-half squad and had to fend off some dangerous opportunities from the hosts. Derry Scherhant scored the final goal in the 65th minute.
