Animals - 32 cats rescued from Frankfurt apartment

The authorities have rescued 32 cats from a two-room apartment in Frankfurt. The animals were scattered around the apartment in cages and self-built boxes, as the public order office announced on Wednesday. One of the animals was in a storage room measuring just one square meter with no natural light or windows. Three animals were pregnant. The cats were reportedly provided with water and food, and litter trays were also available. However, according to veterinarians, a maximum of three cats are allowed in an apartment of this size.

The municipal employees intervened with the action on Monday due to violations of animal welfare law. The owner of the animals is also alleged to have done illegal business with the cats. He faces charges of cruelty to animals and illegal breeding.
