31-year-old stands trial for abuse
From Wednesday (9.00 a.m.), a 31-year-old man will have to answer to the Oldenburg Regional Court for serious sexual abuse of a then 13-year-old girl. The acts of abuse are alleged to have taken place in Braunschweig in particular, where the girl lived at the time. The public prosecutor's office is accusing the 31-year-old of eight acts between May and August 2016. According to media reports, the man was working as a youth worker for a gifted children's club at the time. The court has scheduled a total of five trial dates until December 1.
During the trial, the defense may scrutinize the 31-year-old's past work processes to ensure there's no misinterpretation of his role as a youth worker. Regardless of the trial's outcome, the serious sexual abuse case serves as a stark reminder of the prevalence and consequences of such abusive behaviors.
