Hospitals - 31 Bavarian clinics receive additional millions in funding
Good news for 31 hospitals in Bavaria: the state government is making an additional 43 million euros available to hospitals this year as part of the update of the annual hospital program. This is made possible by a reallocation of unused funding. "With the redistribution, we are noticeably improving the financing of construction projects. At the same time, we are ensuring that the hospital funding budget available this year flows as fully as possible to the hospitals," said Health Minister Judith Gerlach (CSU) on Wednesday in Munich.
The funding program comprises a total of 99 individual measures with a total cost volume of around 3.5 billion euros, she continued. The basis for this is the state hospital funding budget of 643 million euros. "We regularly occupy top positions in the funding of hospital investments and have provided the most funding per inhabitant among the regional states in the last ten years," emphasized Finance Minister Albert Füracker (CSU). This means that there is still no investment backlog in Bavaria and the funding is in line with demand.
Over the next five years, the coalition of CSU and Free Voters wants to increase the funding budget to one billion euros. However, Füracker also called on the federal government to support the hospitals financially. Many clinics were suffering from enormous increases in operating costs. "An emergency aid programme from the federal government is needed to stabilize the hospital landscape."
"Bavaria stands for comprehensive, efficient hospital care for citizens in all parts of the state," said Gerlach. To achieve this, the Free State, together with the municipalities, must continuously finance high investments in the hospitals. Patients benefit directly from this through the improvement in the quality of care.
