3:2 in Augsburg: Eisbären Berlin continue their away series

The Eisbären Berlin have celebrated their seventh away win in a row in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). On Thursday evening, the league leaders won 3:2 (2:0, 1:1, 0:1) at the Augsburger Panthers. Eric Mik, Blaine Byron and Marcel Noebels scored to give the Capitals a hard-fought win in their first game after the German Cup break.

In front of 5146 spectators at the Curt-Frenzel-Stadion, the Berliners had a hard time in the opening minutes with the energetic and determined playing hosts. But they made the most of their first good chances: first Mik deflected a long-range shot from Kai Wissmann beyond the reach of Augsburg goalkeeper Markus Keller, then Byron scored after a solo run.

The home side remained dangerous and were able to reduce the deficit in the second period with a goal from Anrei Hakulinen. In the now varied encounter, Noebels restored the two-goal lead for the home side. The home side stepped up the pressure again in the final period, with Luke Esposito scoring the equalizer. However, the Berliners held on to their narrow lead with great effort and thanks to some strong saves from goalie Jake Hildebrand.

Despite the challenging starting minutes against the energetic Augsburg team, the polar bears from Berlin managed to score two goals, with Eric Mik and Blaine Byron finding the back of the net. Following their impressive away win streak in the DEL, Eisbären Berlin faced off against polar bear-themed rivals, the Augsburger Panthers, in a thrilling ice hockey match.
