Volleyball Bundesliga - 3:0 against Dachau: BR Volleys maintain top spot in the table

The Berlin Volleys remain unbeaten at the top of the table after match day 7 of the Volleyball Bundesliga. The German champions and cup winners won 3:0 (25:19, 25:16, 25:22) against newly promoted ASV Dachau in front of 3,317 spectators in the Max-Schmeling-Halle on Saturday. It was the capital city club's fifth win without losing a set this season.

Volleys coach Joel Banks relied predominantly on players from the second row against Bayern. He had to improvise in the middle block: Because Timo Tammemaa was spared due to a slight calf injury, a skilled outside attacker in Cody Kessel was used in his position. The US-American did a very good job in his unfamiliar role.

The BR Volleys' victory never came under serious threat at any stage despite the Dachau side's valiant resistance. Only in set three at 9:11 did coach Banks have to give his team a more thorough warning during a timeout.

Saso Stalekar from Slovenia was particularly impressive for the Berliners, both in the block and with some well thought-out attacking moves. Estonian Robert Täht was the Volleys' most successful attacker with 13 points. Daniel Malescha, who deputized for Marek Sotola in the diagonal position, contributed twelve points to the win.
