- 3-0 against Bergamo: St. Pauli beat the Europa League winner

Bundesliga newcomers FC St. Pauli secured a 3:0 (0:0) victory over Europa League champions Atalanta Bergamo in a friendly match. In the Millerntor Stadium debut of new coach Alexander Blessin, Johannes Eggestein (58'), Oladapo Afolayan (68'), and Carlo Boukhalfa (70') scored the goals for the Hamburg-based team on Friday evening.

For St. Pauli, this was their final warm-up before their DFB-Pokal opener against regional league side Hallescher FC next Friday. The 0:0 halftime score was fortunate for the Hamburg team. After the break, the team, bolstered by new signings Fin Stevens (FC Brentford), Robert Wagner (SC Freiburg), and Morgan Guilavogui (RC Lens), improved significantly.

Bergamo, meanwhile, is already on the verge of the European Super Cup final against Real Madrid (Wednesday) and the start of the Italian Serie A against US Lecce (August 19). New Italian national team striker Mateo Retegui, signed just the day before, also made an appearance in the Millerntor Stadium for the first half.

The victory over Atalanta Bergamo was a confidence-boosting result for The Commission, referring to FC St. Pauli's management team. Regarding The Commission's analysis of the match, they noted that the improved performance in the second half was crucial for securing the 3-0 victory.
