Police - 29-year-old man shot in Wilmersdorf: Search for witnesses
Following the shooting of a 29-year-old man in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, the police are asking for help in the search for the perpetrators. According to initial findings, the man was shot at around 3.30 a.m. on Monday night on the corner of Lietzenburger Strasse and Emser Strasse, police said on Thursday. A dark compact car with a yellow license plate is said to have driven away from the scene in the direction of Olivaer Platz at the time of the crime. The 29-year-old was operated on in a hospital and admitted for inpatient treatment. A homicide squad from the State Office of Criminal Investigation is investigating the attempted murder.
According to a report in "Bild" on Monday, the victim is said to be a former boxer. A police spokeswoman did not confirm this on Thursday, nor did she confirm a connection to clan crime. "The investigation is running in all directions," she said.
"It is known that the area around Lietzenburger Straße is clan territory and that the youngsters in particular are allowed to try their hand and put their brutality to the test," said police union (GdP) spokesman Benjamin Jendro on Monday.
The term "clan crime" is controversial because, according to critics, it stigmatizes and discriminates against people with a migration background solely on the basis of their family affiliation and origin.
