Investigations - 26-year-old killed: police search for SUV driver
The police are searching for the driver of an SUV who is said to have simply driven on after a fatal accident on highway 44 in Düsseldorf. Three young men had stopped on the hard shoulder on Sunday evening due to a flat tire on their car, the police reported in Düsseldorf on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old driver from Kalkar got out and was hit and fatally injured by an anthracite-colored Range Rover. The driver of the SUV stopped 300 meters further on and got out himself to look at the damage to his car. He then simply drove on without looking after the accident victim.
The accident took place in the eastbound direction (Kassel). The police are urgently looking for witnesses to the incident, which took place on Sunday evening at 6.34 pm. The fugitive's vehicle must have been damaged on the right front side. The 26-year-old died on Wednesday night.
