- 25-year-old drowned in Harz lake
A 25-year-old man drowned in a lake in the Harz region. The man was swimming on Wednesday evening at the Oberer Hausherzberger Teich natural swimming pool in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, as police reported. Friends who initially went into the water with him later noticed his absence.
Alerted rescue forces eventually retrieved the man's body from the lake. Police currently assume that it was a bathing accident. Further investigations are ongoing, according to police statements.
The friends immediately called for help, as they saw this as an emergency situation. Due to the unfortunate events, the natural swimming pool was closed for the remainder of the day.
