24-year-old hits oncoming traffic: two seriously injured
Two people were seriously injured in a head-on collision on a state road in the Unterallgäu district on Tuesday: a 24-year-old male driver and a 61-year-old female driver. Both had non-life-threatening injuries and were flown to hospitals by rescue helicopter, as the police reported in the evening.
The 24-year-old was driving on the road from Hiltenfingen to Ettringen - and kept veering to the left into oncoming traffic. A first oncoming vehicle was still able to take evasive action. A second car ended up in the ditch. It was then reported that the 61-year-old woman and her car came towards the 24-year-old. The vehicles collided head-on.
The 2015 state road was fully closed for around two hours for recovery and accident investigation. It was not yet clear why the driver had left the straight lane.
