Hamburg - 24-hour trombone concert in Hamburg is over
500 musicians, 333 musical contributions and more than 1500 visitors - a 24-hour concert by trombone choirs came to an end in the main church of St. Jacobi in Hamburg on the first day of Advent. The pieces played ranged from simple chorales to polyphonic arrangements for large brass ensembles, as the organizers announced on Sunday. The most popular piece was the Advent song "Daughter of Zion, rejoice". The age range of the participating brass players ranged from 9 to 85 years.
"So many musicians from the parishes of the Nordkirche were keen to take part in this event despite the long distances and icy roads," said Pastor Friedhelm Nolte, who prepared this musical marathon together with regional trombone officer Miriam Rottmayer.
On Saturday, more than 1000 people attended the continuous concert and listened to the music, and from midnight onwards there were at least 30 visitors listening to the 24 brass choirs, as the organizers also announced.
With the concert marathon, the organizers wanted to get people in the mood for the German Protestant Trombone Day in Hamburg 2024 from Saturday morning. Each brass choir played for 30 minutes, then paused for half an hour and played a second 30-minute set.
The German Protestant Trombone Day will be held in Hamburg from May 3 to 5, 2024 under the patronage of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The 24-hour trombone concert, which drew over 1500 visitors to St. Jacobi's church in Hamburg, will inspire a larger event during the German Protestant Trombone Day in the city in 2024. Despite the challenges of long distances and icy roads, many musicians from the local parishes wanted to participate in the event on Sunday.
