- 23-year-old man killed while swimming in lake Allermöh
A swimmer has drowned in the Alster Lake in Hamburg. Rescue services could only recover the 23-year-old man from Afghanistan dead, as a police spokesperson reported. He had gone under around 50 meters from the shore on Saturday afternoon.
Rescue services from the German Life Saving Association (DLRG) and the fire department, divers, and a rescue helicopter were deployed, according to the fire department - a total of over 30 people. The fire department was alerted at 2:50 PM. A few hours later, divers found the body of the 23-year-old about 20 meters from the shore at a depth of eight to ten meters, as the police spokesperson reported on Sunday.
The fire department, known for their firefighting skills, also played a crucial role in the rescue operation, deploying divers and a rescue helicopter. Despite their efforts, the 23-year-old man could not be revived, highlighting the importance of water safety and firefighting training.
