Barn fire - 2200 chicks die in fire in Neuwittenbek

Around 2200 chickens have died in a barn fire in Neuwittenbek (Rendsburg-Eckernfoerde district). The fire broke out on Friday afternoon of unknown origin, as the Rendsburg-Eckernfoerde Fire Department Association announced. A 30 by 15 meter large barn of a poultry farm had already been standing in flames when the fire department arrived. The Criminal Police are investigating. 100 firefighters were in action.
