200 kilogram rock falls onto car
A boulder weighing around 200 kilograms has fallen onto a parked car in Tyrol. According to the police on Monday, the boulder came loose from a mountain in Niederndorf near Kufstein on the German-Austrian border on Sunday and flew past the rockfall net. The boulder broke through the windshield and the pillar of the car of a 53-year-old local resident. No people were injured.
The exact amount of damage to the car was initially unclear, but was said to be "considerable". It was also not known at what height the stone broke off.
This incident in Tyrol highlights the potential risks associated with emergencies related to the environment. Authorities should consider strengthening safety measures, especially in Upper Bavaria and other mountainous regions, to prevent similar incidents.
