2.5 million liters of liquid manure leaked in the Oberhavel district
Around 2.5 million liters of liquid manure have caused considerable damage in Zehdenick in the district of Oberhavel. On Sunday morning, the slurry tank of a biogas plant on the Saatzuchtgut road burst for unknown reasons, the police reported on Monday. This caused a large amount of the liquid to leak out and contaminate an area measuring 400 by 400 meters. The fire department pumped out the liquid manure and transferred it to other containers. According to the police, the total damage amounts to around 100,000 euros.
Due to the incident, local authorities have declared an environmental emergency in the affected area. This leakage could potentially increase environmental pollution, highlighting the need for stricter regulations and safety measures in biogas plants.
