European Union - 2.5 million Berlin residents urged to participate in European voting.

In the European election held in Berlin back in 2019, the Greens scored an impressive victory with 27.8% of the votes. The CDU came in second with 15.2%, the SPD placed third with 14.0%, while the Left and the AfD secured 11.9% and 9.9% respectively.

Voting took place between 8:00 and 18:00 at one of the 2220 readily available polling stations. A team of 30,000 election officials was present to ensure a seamless voting process and tallying of the votes. Officials from the state election commission are expected to release the preliminary results for Berlin sometime after midnight on Sunday.

A total of 720 Members of the European Parliament will be elected during this election, which doesn't impose a 5% threshold like it does in federal and state-level elections. In Berlin, 34 parties featured on the ballot paper, which is slightly lower than the 40 in the previous year.
