2:3 in the northern duel: Hansa narrowly beaten by St. Pauli
FC Hansa Rostock were narrowly beaten 2:3 (1:3) by FC St. Pauli in the explosive northern duel of the 2nd Bundesliga. In front of 27,100 spectators, Junior Brumado gave Rostock an early lead with a penalty (9th minute). St. Pauli equalized immediately with a shot from distance by Manolis Saliakas (15th) and increased the lead to 3:1 before half-time with goals from Marcel Hartel (18th) and Oladapo Afolayan (23rd). In the heated final phase, Hansa reduced the deficit to 2:3 with a penalty by Brumado (78th). Despite further top chances by Brumado (87') and Kevin Schumacher (90'), Rostock were denied an equalizer.
While FC St. Pauli defended their lead at the top of the table, 14th-placed Hansa will have to look towards the relegation zone again.
Despite the late penalty from Junior Brumado, Hansa Rostock failed to secure a comeback win in Bundesliga 2, as FC St. Pauli held on to their 2:3 lead. The defeat leaves Hansa Rostock struggling in the relegation battle, as they remain firmly rooted at the bottom of Bundesliga 2.
