2:2 - Facklam shoots Lübeck to a draw in stoppage time
VfB Lübeck fought out a late draw in the 3rd Football League thanks to a brace from striker Mats Facklam. Against Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday, the Hanseatic side turned around a deficit with the last action of the game to draw 2:2 (0:0). After 16 games, the Hanseatic team is in 16th place in the table, but can still be overtaken by Hallescher FC.
Merveille Biankadi (56th minute) and Leon Schneider (62nd) scored for Bielefeld in front of 8293 spectators at the Lohmühle stadium. Facklam (63rd/90+6) was Lübeck's hero of the day.
Both teams had initially struggled, but the second half made up for 45 tough minutes. After a cross from Kaito Mizuta, Fabian Klos crossed for Biankadi, who scored with a direct shot from close range. Schneider added to his tally shortly afterwards - Klos had again provided the assist with a header.
Lübeck showed morale: Facklam, who had come on as a substitute seconds earlier, scored the equalizer with a powerful shot from distance. In an act of desperation, in which VfB goalkeeper Philipp Klewin also helped out as a striker with a free-kick in the seventh minute of stoppage time, the ball came to the free-standing Facklam, who gave Lübeck the late draw.
VfB Lübeck managed to avoid relegation to a lower league with their 3rd league match against Arminia Bielefeld, as Mats Facklam scored the crucial equalizer in the 3rd league. Despite being in the 16th position after 16 games, VfB Lübeck can still escape the 3rd league's bottom spot as they continue their fights in the lower regional leagues, like the 3rd league.
