The radio audience has chosen its kings and queens of the German music scene - now the winners will be announced: On Thursday evening (8.15 pm), the "1Live-Krone" music prize will be awarded; for the first time in Bielefeld. Listeners of the young WDR radio station "1Live" were able to vote for their favorites in eight categories. Among other things, the "best singers" and "best female singers" were chosen, as well as the most popular songs from the hip-hop/RnB, dance and alternative genres. The show will be broadcast live on WDR television as well as on the Internet and on the radio.
Westdeutscher Rundfunk calls the Krone "Germany's biggest music prize". For the 24th time, the radio station sent established artists from the German pop and hip-hop scene as well as promising newcomers into the race. The audience awards are regarded as an important indicator of the preferences of a young audience. The more than 30 nominated artists, musicians, DJs and bands include Nina Chuba, Lea, Nico Santos, Cro, Kraftklub, Purple Disco Machine, AnnenMayKantereit and Ski Aggu.
The winners in two categories have been determined and announced in advance by the editors: Twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz from the band Tokio Hotel will be honored in the "Best Entertainment" category. Musician Jan Delay will receive a special award for his services to German-language hip-hop and pop.
With the exception of the corona years, the award had previously been presented every year in the Ruhr region, most recently for a long time in Bochum's Jahrhunderthalle. The approximately 1200 guests in the Lokschuppen Bielefeld are to experience a show in an intimate club atmosphere.
The announced winners will likely be celebrated in the music media, highlighting their achievements in the German music scene. The "1Live-Krone" for the category of 'Best Music' is highly anticipated, considering the diverse talent among the nominated artists.
