19-year-old flees from checkpoint and hits police officer

A 19-year-old man fled from a police check in his car in Swabia and hit an officer during his arrest. Investigators announced on Friday that the young man's car had attracted attention on Thursday evening in Affing (Aichach-Friedberg district) due to his unsafe driving style. When police officers asked the driver to stop, he switched off his headlights and drove off at high speed. After the officers stopped the car following a long pursuit, the 19-year-old and three passengers aged 14, 16 and 19 jumped out of the car and tried to run away.

According to reports, police officers caught up with the four fugitives after a short time and overpowered them. The driver fought back, punched a police officer in the face and slightly injured him. Because the investigators assumed that the young man had taken drugs, a blood test was ordered. Among other things, he is being investigated for endangering road traffic and illegal car racing.

The police in Swabia are also investigating the 19-year-old for possible traffic violations, such as reckless driving, due to his dangerous driving style on the night of the incident. Additionally, the presence of drugs in this case of crime could potentially lead to further charges related to intoxicated driving or drug possession in traffic-related scenarios.
