Explore and understand the world through the lens of scientific research. - 19 Scholarships for students and researchers in danger
In Wiesbaden, the government of Hesse revealed that it is currently sponsoring 19 scholars and scientists who are reportedly facing persecution in their countries of origin. This cohort consists of ten undergraduate students, six male and female researchers, as well as three doctorate candidates and doctoral students. The ministry shared this news on a Wednesday.
To support these individuals, a budget of 900,000 euros has been allocated for these scholarships. These awards cater to exceptionally talented refugees and often last a year. The bulk of the beneficiaries hail from Ukraine, with others coming from Afghanistan, Iran, and Russia. As stated by Timon Gremmels of the SPD, "HessenFonds" aims to support persecuted and threatened scientists and researchers.
These study fellowships are primarily geared towards promoting early-stage education. In the fields of science and doctoral studies, the program aims to foster young, highly capable researchers and scientists during the beginning stages of their careers. Since its inception in 2016, the "HessenFonds" program has aided 328 individuals.
