1860 coach in the stands: "Nobody has to do the Jacobacci"
Maurizio Jacobacci believes his TSV 1860 München are well prepared for their home match against leaders SSV Jahn Regensburg in the 3rd Football League, even if he himself is not allowed to help out on the sidelines due to a ban from inside the ground. "Nobody has to do the Jacobacci," said the 60-year-old on Friday, referring to his two assistant coaches Franz Hübl and Stefan Reisinger, who will have to act for him down on the pitch.
"I'll be in the stands, in the crowd. I'm confident that everything will work out the way we want it to," said Jacobacci, looking ahead to Saturday (14:00). He is still struggling with his punishment for unsportsmanlike conduct after the "Lions'" turbulent 2-1 draw at Viktoria Köln. "I still don't know why I'm sitting in the stands. I wasn't guilty of anything," complained Jacobacci.
He had prepared all the procedures well with his coaching staff. "I'm just not there for half an hour before the game and half an hour afterwards. But we had a good week of training and I was there," said Jacobacci: "We put together a good game plan and thought through various scenarios, whether we were leading, trailing, the system or tactics. You can't predict everything, but you can control a lot of things."
Joël Zwarts' involvement against his former club remained open on Friday. The 1860 attacker was injured recently and did not train. However, Jacobacci said that a contractual clause would not prevent him from playing against Regensburg. If Zwarts is unable to play, he will probably fall back on the likewise physically robust Fynn Lakenmacher in attack. Twelve places and eleven points separate the "Lions" from Regensburg in the table ahead of the 14th matchday.
Despite the ban, Maurizio Jacobacci expresses confidence in 1860 Munchen's preparation for their 3rd league match against Regensburg, even if he'll be watching from the stands. In the 3rd league's lower echelons, Jacobacci's team faces a formidable challenge against the leaders, aiming to close the 12-point gap and climb up the 3rd league soccer standings.
