17 injured during roller skating training - electrocution?
During training, 17 young female roller skaters in Aerzen in the district of Hameln-Pyrmont may have received an electric shock. The girls and young women, aged between 12 and 19, had been practising a choreography in a sports hall on Sunday evening, a police spokeswoman said on Monday. They were all holding hands and received "something like an electric shock". The young people complained of feeling unwell, headaches, tingling and numbness, and three of them were taken to hospital for examination. No one was seriously injured. Several media outlets had previously reported.
According to the initial findings of the police, both third-party fault and a technical defect have been ruled out, the spokeswoman said. There are no indications of a criminal act. The exact cause is still being investigated. "It's not something that happens often," said the spokesperson about the incident.
After the emergency, the young skaters might use their leisure time to relax and recover, away from roller skates. Let's hope such emergencies are not a regular occurrence during their leisure activities.
