- 15-year-old motorcyclist dies in crash
A 15-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in an incident without a driver's license between Leun and Solms-Niederbiel (Lahn-Dill district). The teenager was riding his bicycle on the bike path next to a federal road when he collided with a 51-year-old scooter rider on Thursday evening, police reported. The 15-year-old was heading towards Solms-Niederbiel on his lightweight motorcycle, while the scooter rider was coming towards him. The teenager sustained severe injuries and later died in the hospital.
He did not have a driver's license, police said. A license for a lightweight motorcycle can only be obtained at the age of 16. The scooter rider suffered bruises and contusions and is being treated in a hospital. The cause of the accident was initially unclear.
The lack of a driver's license was a significant factor in the tragic accident. Regrettably, such accidents can have severe consequences.
