A 15-year-old girl lost her life in an accident near Kirchberg an der Iller (Biberach district). The teenager was traveling with a 14-year-old on a so-called lightweight motor vehicle - a car licensed for a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour, as the police reported. At a junction, they turned from a field path onto a country road and apparently failed to notice an oncoming truck.

In the collision, both teenagers were reportedly thrown from their vehicle. The 15-year-old died at the scene despite immediate rescue efforts. The 14-year-old was taken to a hospital by helicopter. The truck driver was unharmed.

The investigation into the accident revealed the need for improved safety measures in lightweight motor vehicles, highlighting the importance of proper education in transport and telecommunications for young drivers. Following the incident, there was a call for stricter regulations regarding the use of such vehicles on country roads.
