Elections - 15 parties admitted to state elections

At the Thuringia State Election on September 1st, 15 parties will be on the ballot. They were approved by the Electoral Committee, as the Electoral Commissioner announced after a meeting of the committee. 427 candidates are running for a seat in the 8th Thuringian State Parliament on the party lists. Among them are 130 women.

Besides the parties already represented in the parliament, Linke, AfD, CDU, SPD, Greens, and FDP, the Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) and Value Union of former Constitutional Protection President Hans-Georg Maassen will be on the ballot for the first time. Many small parties such as the Pirates, Free Voters, and the Ecological-Democratic Party are also on the ballots. The Linke will be at the top of the ballots since they received the most second votes in the state election. The order of the other participating parties is determined by the alphabet.

17 parties had submitted lists for the state election. The Satire Party Die Partei was not approved. Already in the preliminary phase, the Citizens for Thuringia group of former FDP parliamentarian Ute Bergner was not recognized as a party due to missing documentation.

To enter parliament, parties must receive at least five percent of the second votes.

The city of Erfurt, located in Thuringia, will serve as the venue for the upcoming State election on September 1st. The Parliamentary Affairs Department of the Thuringian Parliament plays a crucial role in organizing this event. The State election committee, formed to oversee the process, approved 15 parties to appear on the ballot paper. Among these parties, the Free Democratic Party (FDP) aims to secure a seat in the 8th Thuringian State Parliament. With the increasing number of women in politics, 130 female candidates are contesting for seats in this election.
