15 liters of liquid amphetamine found on truck driver
During a check in Upper Bavaria, 15 liters of liquid amphetamine were found on a 23-year-old truck driver. At the request of the public prosecutor's office, an arrest warrant was issued for the man who was provisionally arrested on suspicion of importing a not insignificant quantity of narcotics, as the Munich Customs Investigation Office announced on Tuesday.
Accordingly, the truck with Slovenian registration had already been checked in mid-November on the Autobahn 8 near Raubling (district of Rosenheim) due to suspicion. The officers reportedly found the narcotics in two plastic canisters between boxes of regular cargo.
According to initial investigations by the scientific department of the General Customs Directorate, the liquid was so-called amphetamine oil. According to customs information, after further chemical treatment and stretching of the resulting substance, an estimated 50 kilos of amphetamine could have been produced for street sale. The transported drug is very corrosive in liquid form and can cause serious injuries if touched, according to the customs investigation office.
The discovery of the amphetamine in Upper Bavaria is a significant addition to the region's record of drug-related crimes. The 23-year-old truck driver, suspected of importing narcotics, hails from a different part of Europe, specifically Slovenia.
