- 1399 people were deported in the first half of the year
In the first six months of the year, more people were deported from Bavaria than in the same period last year. According to the Ministry of the Interior, this trend continued from 2023, when there was almost a quarter more deportations.
"Now we have been able to increase the number of deportations by a close quarter," said Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU). A total of 1399 deportations, including Dublin transfers of expelled foreigners, took place in Bavarian jurisdiction in the first half of the year. In 2023, there were 1137, and in 2022, there were a total of 916.
The majority of deportations were to the countries of origin Iraq, Moldova, Turkey, and Nigeria. "Roughly 40 percent of the deported persons were criminals," Herrmann emphasized. The focus should continue to be on this group, "who are trampling on our legal system."
The numbers of voluntary departures have also increased again: "Compared to the first half of 2023, from 5739 to 7539 in the first half of 2024. That's an increase of around 31 percent," said Herrmann. Therefore, almost 9000 expellees left Bavaria in the first half of 2024.
"We must continue to increase the numbers and finally deport criminals to Afghanistan and Syria," Herrmann emphasized. Unfortunately, the federal government has not recognized the signs of the times here: "We urgently need a change of course towards a much better controlled migration to Germany and more order." The federal government is also lacking effective measures in the area of returns and is limited to announcements. "Real progress, for example in the important area of improving cooperation with reluctant countries of origin: Nonexistent."
The increase in deportations from Bavaria is not just limited to recent years; it's also a trend that has continued from 2023, marking a significant increase in migration-related activities. Moreover, the majority of the individuals being deported are originating from countries such as Iraq, Moldova, Turkey, and Nigeria.
