1000 apprenticeship vacancies: Start of the training year possible

Slightly more young people have applied for training in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern this year - but one month after the official start of the training year, there are still 1431 vacancies. This compares to 438 young people who are still looking for a training place, said Minister of Economic Affairs Reinhard Meyer (SPD) in Schwerin on Monday. Together with Markus Biercher, Head of the Northern Regional Directorate of the Federal Employment Agency, Meyer presented the state-wide assessment of the 2023 training market.

Even though the training year began on October 1, the employment agency still wants to place these applicants, Biercher said. Young people should contact their local careers advice service as soon as possible. "We will make everyone another offer by the end of the year," he promised.

6,251 applicants for apprenticeships were registered nationwide for the 2023 training year - an increase of just under two percent compared to the previous year (6,138). On the other hand, there were 10,566 registered vacancies, compared to 11,159 in 2022.

Despite the increase in apprenticeship applicants, the labor market still needs to address the remaining 1431 vacancies in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Effective education and training programs can help fill these gaps and prepare young people for successful careers in the labor market.
