Hanse-Tour Sunshine - 100,000 euros collected for sick children on donation bike tour

The annual charity bike tour "Hanse-Tour Sunshine" brought in approximately 100,000 Euro, according to the organizers. With this amount, they plan to support the construction of the first children's and youth hospice in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as the Hanse-Tour Sonnenschein sponsor association announced on Sunday.

550 kilometers in four days

Apparently, the nearly 180 participants reached the Neuen Markt in Rostock after four days on Saturday. According to reports, they covered around 550 kilometers for a good cause during the 28th tour. The route reportedly led from Rostock to Waren an der Müritz, then to Trollenhagen near Neubrandenburg, Anklam and Gützkow, Mirow and Neustrelitz, Demmin and Grimmen, and back to Rostock.

Madsen is happy

Organizer Claus Ruhe Madsen, a long-term mayor of Rostock and since 2022 Minister of Economics in Schleswig-Holstein, emphasized: "A children's and youth hospice in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will be a place where affected families can find not only medical care but also comfort and support near their homes. We are happy to be able to contribute to this with the Hanse-Tour Sonnenschein."

The first stationary children's and youth hospice in the northeast is planned to be built in Stralsund. According to the sponsor association Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Leuchtturm e.V., a 7,000 square meter plot of land has been secured for this purpose, and the building application has been submitted. Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2025. The state government has announced that one million Euro will be made available. According to the sponsor association, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is one of the few federal states without its own stationary children's and youth hospice.

Money for other projects

The 100,000 Euro donation from the Hanse-Tour Sonnenschein consists of 50,000 Euro that were "erradelt" in 2023 and an additional 50,000 Euro from this tour year, according to the reports. The remaining donations from 2024 will go to various projects for sick children, it was stated. Among them are the "Mike Möwenherz" project of the University Clinic Rostock, which takes care of seriously ill children and their families throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the Känguru e.V. association, which supports families with premature and risk-born children.

  1. The funds raised during the Hanse-Tour Sunshine, amounting to 100,000 Euro, will primarily support the construction of a children's and youth hospice in Neubrandenburg, located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
  2. Participants in the annual charity bike tour, which ended in Rostock after covering 550 kilometers, were delighted to learn that their efforts would contribute to social affairs, specifically the construction of a hospice for children and youth in their region.
  3. The bike tour, known as Hanse-Tour Sonnenschein, has been instrumental in raising donations for various projects in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, with the goal of improving the lives of children and families, including the establishment of a youth hospice in Müritz.
  4. The success of the Hanse-Tour Sunshine, which brought in approximately 100,000 Euro this year, is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of children and families in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as the funds will be used to build a hospice and support various community initiatives.
