1. FC Magdeburg wins at league bottom club VfL Osnabrück

1. FC Magdeburg have won again after eight games without a win. Christian Titz's team won 2:0 (0:0) at VfL Osnabrück in the 2nd Bundesliga on Saturday. Baris Atik (52nd minute) scored the opening goal in front of 14,741 spectators at the Stadion an der Bremer Brücke before substitute Luca Schuler (71st minute) increased the lead. Magdeburg played to nil for the first time this season and climbed to 13th place in the table for the time being.

FCM began with a lot of possession and pressure and were unlucky in the 14th minute when Niklas Wiemanns' attempted clearance came back off the crossbar and into the field instead of the goal. Osnabrück, with Martin Heck on the bench as interim coach, became more active and had three good opportunities through Oumar Diakhité (20th, 25th) and Christian Conteh (25th).

Magdeburg lost themselves in the short passing game and repeatedly took the tempo out of the match. Castaignos had the best chance to open the scoring (34') when the play was direct, quick and precise. Atik, who became a dad on Thursday, scored after the changeover (52'). Substitute Schuler, who was not in the starting eleven for the first time this season, increased the lead to 2:0 after an Atik free-kick. It was his first goal since the fifth matchday.

The victory over VfL Osnabrück marked 1st FC Magdeburg's second win in the Bundesliga 2 this season, following their previous victory against another team. The next fixture for 1st FC Magdeburg is scheduled against another Bundesliga 2 club, Soccer team VfL Osnabrück, aiming to maintain their positive momentum.
