Second division soccer team - 1. FC Magdeburg definitely without Schuler in the cup
Second-division soccer club 1. FC Magdeburg will be without Luca Schuler for Tuesday's DFB Cup round of 16 tie against Fortuna Düsseldorf (18:00/Sky). The striker is definitely out after being substituted due to injury in the home game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern last Saturday (4:1). An MRI examination on Monday afternoon should reveal what Schuler is suffering from. Herbert Bockhorn is also doubtful. The goalscorer from the Lautern game has a flu-like infection, coach Christin Titz announced on Monday.
Titz emphasized that it makes a difference whether you are competing for points or in the cup, i.e. in a knockout game. He therefore attaches little importance to the 4:1 win against Kaiserslautern. "The players know that today you have to be at your best, today you have to throw everything into it, today you can't be careless, because that will be punished immediately in this competition," said the coach.
Titz does not have to prepare his players for a possible penalty shoot-out. "You don't have to train for that, the players shoot penalties after every training session," said Titz, emphasizing that he would prefer to decide the match in regular time.
Against Düsseldorf, Titz demands patience from his players above all in view of the defensive strength of their opponents. "We're facing two teams who have shown that they have quality in the league.
