"The merger offers many opportunities in terms of sporting development and infrastructure," said FCM Executive Committee member Marius Sowislo. The presidents of both clubs had campaigned for the merger in advance. From the 2024/25 season, the women's teams of Magdeburger FFC will then compete as 1. FC Magdeburg.
