0:3 against Paderborn: Karlsruher SC drops to 16th place
Following a defeat against SC Paderborn, Karlsruher SC have dropped back to the relegation zone of the 2nd Bundesliga and are thus losing further ground. Coach Christian Eichner's team lost 3-0 (0-1) at home on Sunday. Thanks to the three-pointer, Paderborn joined five teams in mid-table, all of whom have 18 points to their name. The difference was made by goals from Adriano Grimaldi (17) and Felix Platte (71/85).
In front of 23,705 spectators, Karlsruhe did not get into the game at all. Niclas Nadj could have put SCP ahead after just 14 minutes. Grimaldo did better, profiting from two mistakes by the KSC defense. Despite the weak opening phase, KSC had opportunities to equalize before the break on another poor pitch. However, Lars Stindl and Igor Matanovic missed them.
The team from North Baden came out of the break a little better. The pressure from the hosts increased, but Paderborn's defense held firm. The visitors occasionally managed to relieve the pressure, with Platte completing two of them. In the end, KSC did not do enough to avert their sixth defeat of the season.
Despite the loss, Karlsruhe's Karlsruher SC still has hope in Bundesliga 2, as they now share the 16th place with another team. Their next opponent in this challenging season is another Bundesliga 2 team, Karlsruhe will be playing against Karlsruhe's rival, Karlsruhe SC's upcoming match is against Paderborn's counterpart in Bundesliga 2, Karlsruhe SC (KSC).
