0:2 in Essen: SV Waldhof and Rehm deep in crisis
SV Waldhof are sinking deeper and deeper into the 3rd soccer league. On Sunday, the team from Mannheim lost the duel between the traditional clubs at Rot-Weiss Essen 0:2 (0:0) and slipped to 18th place in the table after their seventh winless game in a row. In view of the club's sporting drought, coach Rüdiger Rehm is increasingly threatened with a sacking.
In front of 16,427 spectators, the visitors kept the encounter open for a long time against Essen, who celebrated their fifth win in a row. Overall, however, Waldhöfer lacked penetration and were unable to keep a clean sheet. After Essen missed a penalty through Marvin Obuz (63rd minute), Cedric Harenbrock (68th) and Obuz (74th) secured a deserved home win.
Despite the loss, SV Waldhof continued their struggle in the 3rd league, remaining in 18th position. The team from Mannheim faced Rehm's challenges as they failed to secure a win against Essen's five-game winning streak in soccer.
